A Long Time Has Passed

A long time has passed since we last caught up…

So.  Fun times.  The droopy eyes are completely gone and a lot of the fogginess as well.  I’m still taking my meds, but I seem to be having some trouble with keeping up with the afternoon ones.  Either I think “I’ll catch up when I get home” or “I forget to take the pills with me” after I leave for work.  Even now, I keep pushing off my morning meds and it is already noon.

One sec.

Okay, done.  I had to add a new one, a diet plan pill.  Yeah, I’m going on a diet.  I should not be 315 lbs.  I should be 200, and that is my goal.  I’ve been doing this for about 2 months and have dropped about 17 lbs so far and I’ve gotten used to being hungry all day.  Why can’t we just tell our bodies to cut it out with the fat storage stuff.  I mean, we have a brain that can control voluntary functions, why can’t we just have a bit more control over our involuntary stuff as well?  We can cause our heart rate to shoot up, some people have gotten to the point where they can cause stigmata (allegedly) and can lower their body temperature.

Why can’t we just have a “Control Panel” where we can change some sliders and be done with it?  It’s all trial-and-error with hormones and vitamins and minerals and whatever else

Anyway.

As far as work goes, it’s been pretty rough.  The firm has been updating policies and is getting more and more paranoid about authorization and permissions.  It is what happens when you start taking in people who have questionable alliances internationally and you still want to pay them dirt wages and lousy hours.  Yeah, you’re going to get frustrated employees.  Especially now with the way they are handling office policies like “preferred seating” which is bullsh.  You no longer have a home base at work, you fight for your castles for the day.  No plants, no photos of your dog or your kids, no personalization at all.  They try to sell it as an open and highly collaborative workspace, then they do tracking for when you are at your desk.

If you are going to collaborate, one person may be at their desk and 3 others aren’t - because they are at YOUR DESK.  Sheesh.

I also want to talk about ChatGPT and how amazing it is, but I don’t have the time for it right now.  The biggest thing about it is that it has given me a new energy for writing code again.  AI pair programming is pretty awesome.
